Update:  Police arrest 3 in Danville armed robbery

According to the News-Gazzette in DANVILLE — Police have arrested three people in connection with an armed robbery of a downtown Danville jewelry store Tuesday morning and arrested another individual in an unrelated purse-snatching that happened about the same time.

106th District Representative

The 106th Representative District Committee met on Sunday, July 27th in Paxton, Illinois for the purpose of selecting a replacement Representative Josh Harms on the November General Election ballot.  The committee, made of the Republican County Chairmen, or their surrogates, of the five counties that comprise the district.  The five are Ford, Iroquois, Vermilion, Livingston, and Woodford counties.

Melvin man acquitted of DUI, convicted of lying about crash

According to the News-Gazette A Champaign County jury Thursday returned a split verdict against a Melvin man who was charged with aggravated driving under the influence for seriously injuring a tractor driver then lying about being the driver.

Sixteen young ladies vyed for the 2014 title of Miss Benton County on Wednesday, July 23rd.  A 2014 graduate of Benton Central, Sierra Fultz was crowned the 2014 Miss Benton County after a tough competition.
