ISP District - 21 Makes Cannabis Arrest
Passenger throws cannabis out the window
Ashkum, IL - Illinois State Police District 21 is reporting the arrest of Orlando Urbina, 33 of Berwyn, IL. for possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction of justice.
On January 8th, 2013, at 9:25AM an Illinois state Trooper was on patrol on I-57 at milepost 294.0 (Ashkum Twp/Iroquois County). The trooper observed a vehicle speeding and conducted a traffic stop. As the vehicle pulled over to the right shoulder of the roadway the trooper observed two baggies get tossed out of the passenger side window. The trooper approached the vehicle and spoke with the occupants. While speaking with them he smelled a strong odor of raw cannabis coming from the vehicle. The trooper with assistance from additional troopers searched the area and located a total of four plastic baggies all containing cannabis. A total of 13 grams of cannabis was recovered as evidence. an additional container with cannabis residue was located in the vehicle. After a roadside interview was conducted, the passenger Orlando Urbina, 33 of Berwyn, Il was placed under arrest and transported to the Iroquois County Jail for processing.
