Here’s your WHPO Local Sports Update….

High School Basketball…

Girls….

Hoopeston Area beat Gardner-South Wilmington 40-38 on a 3-point shot by Olivia Smith with four seconds left in the Iroquois West tournament consolation championship game. Shelby Holzinger got seven of her team-high 14 points in the 4th quarter. Holzinger, along with Cayla Davis, each had 10 rebounds. Holzinger and Haley Dixon each made the All-Tournament team for the Cornjerkers, who went 3-1 in the tournament and will play Armstrong-Potomac tonight – a game you can hear on WHPO starting at 7pm.
