Your Local Sports Report for Tuesday, December 20th, 2012

High School Basketball…

boys:

The Milford Bearcats lost to Tri-point 50-46 in the 5th/6th place game of the Watseka Holiday Tournament. The Bearcats led 27 to 21 at half, and 37 to 33 at the end of the third quarter, but shot 7 of 15 from the free-throw line and scored only 9 points in the fourth quarter.  .Jake Rogers led the Bearcats with 19 points and 8 rebounds.  Jeff Cann added 12 points and 6 rebounds.

The Bearcats drop to 7 and 7 and will travel to Bismarck-Henning Friday night

Also at the Watseka Holiday Tournament:

Host Watseka fell to Momence 63-47 in the 3rd Place Game…..and Kankakee McNanmara downed Schlarman 79-56 for the Championship.

Congratulations to the Hoopeston Area 7th grade boys basketball team and coach Dave Cox who finished the Regular Season with an overall record of 16-2 including a perfect 12-0 in the Three Rivers Conference.  County Tournament play starts Jan 9th, at home, and regionals, in Gilman, begin Jan 23rd
