NFL…

Pro Bowl selections were announced Wednesday…with Peyton Manning earning his 12th selection….the most of any QB since 1970.  Five Chicago Bears were selected – Charles Tillman, Tim Jennings, Henry Melton, Julius Peppers, and Brandon Marshall.  Other notable selections include the Viking’s Adrian Peterson and rookie Robert Griffin III.  The NFL “all star game” is Jan. 27

Boxing Day in England saw its own full slate of English Premier League games….
Manchester United got by Newcastle 4 – 3…even with star Wayne Rooney announced as injured and out for 2-3 weeks
Everton 2 – Wigan 1
Fulham 1 – Southhampton 1
Chelsea beat Norwich 1 – 0 (nil)
Reading & Swansea and Arsenal & West Ham played to 0 – 0 ties
Stoke upset Liverpool 3 -1
Sunderland surprised Manchester City 1 - 0
and Tottenham handled Aston Villa 4 – 0
