The 14-14 Brooklyn Nets fired head coach Avery Johnson Thursday. Assistant Coach PJ Carlisemo was named interim head coach as everyone from Jerry Sloan to Phil Jackson are rumored to be in the running for consideration to take over permanent head coaching duties.
Kevin Durant scored 40 points while Russell Westbrook added eight of his 16 points in overtime to help the Oklahoma City Thunder beat Dallas 111-105 for their 11th straight win at home.

Hall of Fame baseball catcher Carlton Fisk pleaded guilty Thursday to a misdemeanor drunken-driving charge, two months after police found him asleep in his pickup truck in a suburban Chicago cornfield.
Fisk, 65, was sentenced to one year of court supervision and must pay $1,250 in court costs. He also must undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation and counseling.
