Saturday – in the Big Ten:
#1 Indiana had no trouble with Purdue, beating the Boilermakers 83 – 55
Michigan State won at Nebraska 73 – 64
other Top 25 games on Saturday:
#2 Duke lost to Maryland 83 – 81
#5 Gonzaga beat San Francisco 71 – 61
#6 Syracuse beat Seaton Hall 76 – 65
other Top 25 winners Saturday: Florida, Kansas State, Butler, and Kansas. #16 Pittsburg and #21 Notre Dame both lost.
Wisconsin upset Ohio State in a big way, 71 - 49
Michigan beat Penn State 79 – 71
Miami got by Clemson 45 – 43
Arizona beat Utah 68 – 64
Louisville beat South Florida 59 – 41
and Illinois had no trouble with Northwestern, winning 60 – 35 in Evanston. DJ Richardson lead the Illini with 18 points and 8 rebounds.
Terrence Ross of the Toronto Raptors won the Dunk Contest
The Cavalier’s Kyrie Irving won the 3-point Contest
rookie Damian Lillard of the Portland Trailblazers won the Skills Challenge.
and… the West beat the East 143 – 138 in Sunday-nites All-Star Game, a defensive battle as always: . The LA Clippers’ Chris Paul was voted MVP – scoring 20 and dishing 15 assists.
The Chicago Blackhawks are still undefeated at 12-0-3…after beating the LA Kings on Sunday, 3-2. Jonathon Toews had a goal and an assist in the win for the Hawks.
Danica Patrick became the first woman to win the pole position in NASCAR Sprint Cup history after she clocked the fastest qualifying lap of 196.434 MPH at Daytona.
Tune into 101 Country tonight for boys 1st round Regional basketball action as Hoopeston hosts Bismarck-Henning. Tip is at 7:30.

youth soccer news:
HAYS will hold a sign up for a spring soccer academy on Saturday, February 23rd from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at First Church of God, 1004 E. Orange St. in Hoopeston. The academy is not a league but is a program designed to teach skills, team play, fundamentals and sportsmanship. There will be light scrimmaging. Newcomers to soccer are welcome!
The academy is $20 and includes a t-shirt. It will run every Saturday morning, various times in the morning by age group on April 6th through May 4th. It is for ages 4 through children in 8th grade, boys and girls. Surrounding communities welcome. If you have questions, please contact Kathy Harding at 217-497-6686.
