Here’s Your WHPO Sports Report with Kevin Jett…..
Derek Jeter had 2 hits in his 14th and final All-Star game while Angel Mike Trout was voted MVP as the American League beat the National League 5-3 in Minnesota. Miguel Cabrera also homered to help give the AL champion home-field advantage for the World Series.
The Miami Heat have re-signed Dwyane Wade, the team announced Tuesday.
The Heat did not disclose terms of the deal, but sources said Wade received a two-year, $31.1 million deal with a player option for the second year. It’s believed Wade took about an $11 million pay cut over two years from the deal he opted out of, which was for two years and $42 million….which he did in a failed attempt to help keep Lebron James in Miami.
Also.. The Chicago Bulls have waived forward Carlos Boozer using the amnesty provision to clear cap space to sign Pau Gasol and Nikola Mirotic. The Bulls will still owe Boozer the $16.8 million left on his salary this season but it will not count on their salary cap.
the Danville Dans beat Springfield 4-1. The two teams face off again tonight at Danville Stadium.
And…Congratulations to Harris Agency from Rossville and head coach Jason Hedgecock who won last night’s Hoopeston Girls Softball Association minor league playoff championship. Toyota, coached by Mark Schaumburg, won the major league championship.
