NFL….Monday Night Football:
New Philadelphia Head Coach Chip Kelly brought his fast-paced offense to the NFL and held on for an upset of the defending NFC East champs Washington as the Eagles beat the Redskins 33-27.
the second game of the night saw the Houston Texans rebound from a 21-point deficit to beat the San Diego Chargers 31 – 28.
Cubs beat the Reds 2 – 0
White Sox beat the Tigers 5 – 1
Cardinals had the day off….they host the Brewers today.
Ryan Newman replaced Martin Truex Jr. in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship on Monday night when NASCAR penalized Michael Waltrip Racing for manipulating the outcome of last weekend’s race at Richmond. An apparent deliberate spin-out by Clint Bowyer lead to a caution and a chain of events that kept Newman from winning the race he was leading.
Lexi Knake served for 12 points on the night as Cissna Park beat St. Anne in straight sets, 2 – 0. The Timberwolves JV squad also won.
Bismarck-Henning beat GCMS 2 sets to 0
Bismark-Henning tied Covington (Ind.) 2 - 2. Blake Reifsteck’s goal off a corner kick put the Blue Devils ahead 2-1 in the second half, but visiting Covington rallied to earn a tie. Skylar Nuetzmann also scored for B-H.
and….area youth soccer players are invited to tonight’s Hoopeston Area high school soccer match versus Georgetown-RF as part of the annual “DSA Night” hosted by Cornjerker head coach John Klaber. Players from the Danville Area Soccer Association are encouraged to attend the game in their jersey – meet the players – and participate in a shoot-out contest on the high school field at half time. The game tonight starts at 4:30 at the Hoopeston Area HS soccer field.
