The New England Patriots ran their way to the AFC title game by handling the Colts on Saturday 43 – 22.
The Patriots will face Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos who beat San Diego 24 – 17 on Sunday afternoon.
In the NFC….Seattle held on to beat the Saints 23 – 15 on Saturday.
The Seahawks will host San Francisco for the NFC title game as the Niners beat Carolina 23 – 10 yesterday.
The Bears announced Sunday that linebackers coach Tim Tibesar and defensive line coach Mike Phair will not return in 2014. The rest of the staff is expected to remain in place, including embattled Defensive Coordinator Mel Tucker, according to the team.
Alex Rodriguez has been suspended for the entire 2014 season by an arbitrator, who reduced the New York Yankees third baseman’s ban from 211 games to 162 for his involvement in Major League Baseball’s Biogenesis scandal. The suspension also includes all potential playoff games in 2014. As expected, Rodriguez said he will contest Saturday’s ruling in federal court.
Chicago Blackhawks beat Edmonton 5 – 3 behind a Marian Hossa power-play goal and an assist.
Penn State introduced former Vanderbilt coach James Franklin Saturday as their new Head Coach.
#20 Iowa surprised #3 Ohio State, beating the Buckeyes 84 – 74 in Columbus
and Northwestern upset #23 Illinois 49 – 43… the Illini’s 2 loss in a row after winning 4 straight.

Cissna Park beat Hoopeston Area 64 – 22. The Lady Cornjerkers are home tonight in VVC action against Georgetown-RF.
HS Boys Basketball…
Cissna Park beat Schlarman 63 – 47
Oakwood beat G-RF 65 – 47
Hoopeston Area beat GCMS 63 – 48. 4 Cornjerkers scored in double figures as they prep this week for the Vermilion County tournament which begins this coming Saturday.
