Syracuse, off to the best start in school history, is the first unanimous No. 1 in The Associated Press poll since Duke was for six weeks in 2010-11.
The Orange (21-0) are on top of the poll for the first time since a six-week run in 2011-12. They received all the first-place votes Monday from the 65-member national media panel.
Arizona (21-1) and Syracuse, which had been 1-2 for the past eight weeks, switched places after the Wildcats lost at California on Saturday. Florida, Wichita State (-the only other unbeaten in Division I) and San Diego State remained third through fifth and were followed by Villanova, Cincinnati, Kansas, Michigan State and Michigan. Texas made the biggest jump inside the Top 25 this week, moving from 25th to 15th.
#1 Syracuse held off Notre Dame 61 – 55
DACC split their games against Lincoln – the men lost 66 - 64 while the women’s team moved to 5-0 in conference play, 17-7 overall with a 83 – 49 victory.
Bulls lost to the Kings 99 – 70
Pacers beat the Magic 98 – 79
Chicago Blackhawks beat the LA Kings 5 - 3
HS Girls Basketball….
Hoopeston Area lost to Armstrong-Potomac on senior nite 58 – 44. Senior Tori Smock led the Lady Cornjerkers with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Haley Dixon had 12 pts on 4 3-pointers. Doris Varela added 8 rebounds.
Schlarman beat Milford 48 – 21
Bismarck-Henning won on their senior night, beating Salt Fork 36 – 17.
