Here’s Your WHPO Sports Update…...

NBA…

Indiana leads their 1st round playoff series with Atlanta.  They beat the Hawks last night 113-98.

OKC beat Houston 105 – 102 to lead that series 2-0

Spurs pulled away from the Lakers 102 – 91, behind Tony Parker’s 28 points.

and the Memphis Grizzlies’ Marc Gasol was named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Wednesday.  The 7-foot-1 Spaniard averaged 1.7 blocks and 1.0 steals for a Memphis defense that allowed a league-low 88.7 points per game.


MLB…

The Reds beat the Cubs 1 – 0

The Cardinals completed a sweep of the Washington Nationals, winning 4 – 2.

and the White Sox stopped a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win over the Cleveland Indians


NHL…

Blackhawks captured the Presidents Trophy for the first time in 22 years after beat the Edmonton Oilers 4 – 1.  The Hawks currently sit with a league-best season record of 35-6-5.


NFL….

the 2013 draft is tonight with the KC Chiefs getting the first selection.  The Bears currently get their first pick is at 20, the Colts select 24th. 


Local Sports…

baseball:


Westville beat Armstrong-Potomac 15 – 5

Cissna Park was all over St. Anne, 22 – 1

softball:


Bismarck-Henning got by Milford 7 – 6.  Lauren McKenzie had 2 hits and 3 RBIs for the host Lady Blue Devils.

Schlarman Academy gave Georgetown-Ridge Farm their first conference defeat of the season, beating the Lady Buffalos 7 – 3.

Westville beat Armstrong-Potomac 11 – 6
