Here’s your WHPO Sports Update…....

NBA…

Boston survived playoff elimination by beating the Knicks 97 – 90 in OT in game 4 of their 1st round series.

The Heat swept the Bucks in their playoff series, beating Milwaukee 88 – 77

San Antonio knocked off the LA Lakers 103 – 82 to sweep that series and advance to the 2nd round of the Western Conference playoffs.

Stephen Curry scored 22 points in the 3rd quarter as Golden State beat Denver 115-101

The Bulls and Pacers both have their game 5 tonight.


MLB…

The Cubs lost to the Marlins in Miami 6 – 4

St. Louis was blanked by Pittsburg 9 – 0

and the White Sox lost to the Rays 8 – 3


NASCAR…

Kevin Harvick won his first Spring Cup series race of the season at Richmond.


EPL….

Arsenal and Manchester United played to a 1 – 1 tie


College Sports…

The Big Ten on Sunday approved new East and West divisions for the 2014 season as well as a nine-game conference schedule beginning in 2016.  The Big Ten East will include: Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State and Rutgers. The Big Ten West will include: Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin.
Every East division team is located in the Eastern time zone, while every West division team except Purdue is located in the Central time zone.

Local Sports…

baseball:

from Saturday –

Cissna Park took two from Grace Baptist, winning 12-1 and 17-4. 

Westville beat Milford 8 – 5

Oakwood got by Schlarman 5 – 4


softball:

Watseka dropped both games of their doubleheader with Momence, 11-4 and 12-10
