Coats for Kids at Hoopeston Area School

Hoopeston Area CUSD #11 is coordinating a coat drive to keep our students warm this winter.  Sizes needed range from children to adults.  Only new or gently used coats will be accepted.  No tears, stains or missing buttons, please.  Coats may be dropped off daily through October 17th at the Hoopeston Middle School Office or Hoopeston Multi Agency.  Several area churches will also collect for this drive through October 19th.  For more information, contact Amy Linares, Community Liaison, at 283.6664.


After years of waiting for two key buildings in the 74 Eastgate Business Park to be cleared for sale, two local businesses have taken advantage of the opportunity and will soon add their signs and employment to this industrial area.  Dawson Logistics has purchased 122 Eastgate, originally built by Esco Corporation and International Greenhouse has purchased 70 Eastgate, built and occupied by Herr’s for many years.

Hoopeston Mayor asks for resident support Nov. 4th for sales tax increase

Mayor Bill Crusinberry is asking residents to support a referendum on the November 4th ballot that, if approved, would increase sales tax by 1%.

Hoopeston Multi-Agency Annual Ham & Bean Dinner

The Hoopeston Multi-Agency will host their annual Ham & Bean Dinner on Thursday, October 9th from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm located at 206 S First Avenue.  The cost is $5/person and carry-outs are available for $5.50.  Please call ahead 217.283.5544.

Fall Harvest is well underway but rain is hampering progress

State crop statistician Todd Ballard says with statewide rainfall averaging more than two inches this past week farmers only had about four days suitable for fieldwork.

Hoopeston Alley Cleanup

The Hoopeston Street and Alley department began cleanup on October 6th.  Cleanup is for yard waste only.  Piles with bricks, cement, lumber or plastic will NOT be picked up.
