Feds Announce No Changes to Security Procedures at Airports Until January 22, 2018

The Department of Homeland Security provided an update today on the REAL ID Act, announcing that there will be no security changes at airports for at least two years, with any changes beginning no sooner than January 22, 2018.

As a result, Illinois driver’s licenses and ID cards will continue to be accepted as primary forms of identification to board commercial airplanes for domestic travel.

The Illinois Secretary of State’s office will continue to work with DHS and the Illinois General Assembly on the REAL ID Act.

MOBILE HOME PRIVILEGE TAX BILLS TO BE MAILED IN MARCH

Iroquois County Treasurer, Mindy Kuntz Hagan is announcing that Mobile Home privilege tax bills will be sent out the first week of March 2016.

Please contact the Iroquois County Treasurer’s Office at 815-432-6985 if your address has changed or if the mobile home has been moved or destroyed. If you have recently purchased/sold a mobile home, please stop by our office with a copy of the title so that we can provide you with a certification in order for you to do the title change paperwork.

  Address changes for real estate tax bills should be directed to the Assessment Office by phoning 815-432-6978.

State lays out case at pretrial hearing for Rankin man

According to the News-Gazette, A Rankin man beat his father-in-law, shot him three times, bound him and left him behind a garage in his backyard, where he was found eight hours later, a Vermilion County Sheriff’s investigator testified Thursday at Vernon Scott Lee’s preliminary hearing.  Using a walker, Lee, 46 shuffled into the Vermilion County courtroom Thursday afternoon in the custody of sheriff’s deputies for his hearing on charges stemming from the Nov. 5 series of events.
