Hoopeston Alley Cleanup

The Hoopeston Street and Alley department began cleanup on October 6th.  Cleanup is for yard waste only.  Piles with bricks, cement, lumber or plastic will NOT be picked up.

Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police investigate a Train vs Pedestrian Accident

On October 5th Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police investigate a Train vs Pedestrian Accident which occurred on the Canadian National Railroad tracks along St. Rt. 45 approximately a mile north of Danforth, IL.  According to police reports, Juan M. Ochoa, 23 Onarga was walking southbound on the railroad tracks during the early morning hours.  A Norfolk Southern Freight train was traveling north on the same set of railroad tracks approaching Ochoa.

25-year-old rollover victim identified

According to the news-gazette, Vermilion County Coroner Peggy Johnson has identified the man who died in a single-vehicle rollover on Henning Road over the weekend.  Johnson said Jerry A. Messmore, 25 of Bismarck, was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center at 4:22 p.m. Saturday.  She said toxicology test results are pending.
