Cissna Park’s insurance carrier suing former official for repayment of stolen funds

According to the Paxton Record, Cissna Park’s insurance carrier is suing the village’s former bookkeeper/collector and clerk for the nearly $100,000 it says she stole from the village.

In December 2013, Rhonda Sue Siebert, 60, of Cissna Park, pleaded guilty in Iroquois County Circuit Court to one count of Class 3 felony theft — a charge reduced from a Class X felony — and was sentenced to two years in prison for stealing from the village over a six-year period.

As part of her sentence, Siebert’s $10,000 bond — minus a $1,000 attorney’s lien and court costs — was to be given as restitution to the village.

State’s Attorney Jim Devine said at the time that he was also working with the village’s insurance management firm, the Illinois Municipal League Risk Management Association, to pursue further restitution collection.
