According to the News-Gazette, Vermilion County has hired an interim finance director to replace Nikki Bogart, who has filed a grievance with the county, claiming she was illegally fired from the position for political reasons.
Vermilion County Board Chairman Mike Marron told The News-Gazette in an interview Tuesday that Bill Bucher, a Danville businessman, has been hired as finance director on an interim basis and started Monday. He said Bucher is being paid as an hourly employee.
“The future of the position is a little uncertain. We needed someone in there in the meantime to get things back up and running,” said Marron, who explained that the county will post the position and go through the standard hiring process in finding a permanent replacement.
