State Representative Chad Hays calls for lockdown at the capitol until the budget is passed

State Representative Chad Hays (R-Catlin) renewed his call today for members of the General Assembly to stay in Springfield and work to get the budget impasse taken care of.  Hays said the doors should be locked and members of the General Assembly should tell their families they won’t be home until the process is complete.  Attached is audio with Representative addressing his colleagues on the House floor.

Representative Hays was referring to a bill sponsored by Democratic Representative John Bradley who has offered up two amendments to a bill to freeze property taxes. One amendment would offer the freeze, the other amendment would address what Bradley says is the Governor’s provision relaxing prevailing wage and collective bargaining for local governments.  The representative from Marion has offered up the same bill, which he is not voting for, for the past several months, an exercise House Republicans blast as a waste of time.
