Iroquois County Jail gets “good” report

According to the Times Republic, The Iroquois County Jail is in compliance with Illinois County Jail Standards.
Sheriff Derek Hagen reported to the county board’s judicial committee yesterday that the annual inspection showed no non-compliances.
“That’s the big thing,” he said. “No non-compliances with jail standards, which is good.”

Police search for bank robber

According to the Commercial News, A suspect remained at large Wednesday afternoon following a bank robbery along North Gilbert Street.
Danville police and Vermilion County deputies responded to the robbery report just after 3 p.m. Wednesday at Iroquois Federal Savings and Loan, 619 N. Gilbert St.
According to Danville Director of Public Safety Larry Thomason, the bank personnel called 911 to report a man had entered with a weapon and taken an unknown amount of money from the savings and loan.
The suspect was described as a white male in his early 30s standing either 5 feet 9 inches or 5 feet 10 inches tall. He was wearing an orange shirt with an unknown design and blue jeans at the time of the robbery.
He used a handgun during the robbery.
The suspect fled southwest on foot across North Gilbert Street through the Village Garden parking lot.
Thomason indicated no one was injured during the incident.
Anyone with information in connection with the case is asked to call Danville police or Vermilion County Crime Stoppers at 446-TIPS (8477).
