A winter storm will impact central and southeast Illinois Tuesday into early Wednesday.
Light snow will develop across the area Tuesday morning, then will become moderate to heavy Tuesday afternoon and evening. The snow will gradually taper off and come to an end by early Wednesday.
Due to the high likelihood of heavy snow amounts, a WINTER STORM WATCH has been issued from noon Tuesday through noon Wednesday. Snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches will be likely across the watch area, with lower amounts of 3 to 4 inches expected along and south of an Effingham to Robinson line.
In addition to the snow, gusty northwesterly winds will create considerable blowing and drifting snow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning
