The USDA is slightly raising the Crop Production forecast for Illinois

The USDA is slightly raising the Crop Production forecast for Illinois, according to state crop statistician Mark Schleusener, saying the latest figures put corn yields at 200 bushels per acre and Soybean yields are forecasted at a record high 56 bushels per acre.

Vermilion County doesn’t have a tax increase in the budget

According to the Commercial News, the budget for Vermilion County’s upcoming fiscal year will be up for a vote at Tuesday night’s meeting.  After passing a tax increase last year for the first time in several years, board members have before them a proposal with no tax increases.  The budget, approved by the finance committee in late August, has a slight deficit of $1.3 million, similar to the $1.08 deficit budget in last year’s budget.  There is around $14 million in the general fund of the proposed budget.

Serious Crash North of Danville leaves Multiple Injuries

A serious three-vehicle collision on Illinois route one north of Danville Sunday night caused multiple injuries.  Initial reports indicated at least five people were hurt and some had to be extricated from the wreckage.
