City council members heard a complaint last night from Hoopeston resident Cheryl Wallace about a children’s book solicitor that was in town last week.

Miss Virginia Desiree Williams crowned National Sweetheart 2012

Williams of Newport News, VA played a Pirates of the Caribbean medley, a contempory piano offering as her talent before winning the crown as National Sweetheart.  Williams also won the Groups CD swimsuit competition.

Benefits Scheduled to Help Westville Teenager

Kaitlyn Foster, 15, Westville remains in critical condition at Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.  Foster had received a new heart in 2009, but her body began rejecting it on Aug. 17th.  She was on life support for three days; her heart started functioning when she was taken off support on Aug. 21st, but she still remains in critical condition.
