Traffic Accident Hit and Run H23-200

Time: 2:41PM

Location: 300 W Penn St

Unit 2: 2007 GMC Yukon parked by Desideria Paredes(F)of Hoopeston

Details: Unit 2 stated that her vehicle was parked out front of her residence. Unit 2 noticed

damage to the vehicle. Unit 2 is insured, Investigation continues.

Hoopeston Area Soccer and volleyball reports

 

Hoopeston Area defeated Schlarman by the score of 3-1. Cornjerkers got on the board with 33:17 left in the first half on a head shot by Owen Crase thanks to a chip pass from Gavin Montez. Just before half Talan Nelson-Gredy scored to make the game 2-0 at half. 

Second half didn't see any scoring until half way through when Owen Root found the back of the net with a great pass from Cameron Zorns. Danville Schlarman kept fighting and with 4:40 left Liam Rome got his team on the board with an outstanding play by Chris Brown.

Owen Root was the winning goalie for the Cornjerkers. Hoopeston Area improved their record to 5-2 overall, and 3-1 in the VVC. The next game will be Thursday night as the Cornjerkers host Bismark-Henning Rossville-Alvin at 4:30.

The Cornjerkers won 1-0. Keygan Field scored with fifteen seconds left in the game. Dylan Judy was the winning goalie saving all three shots from the Hilltoppers.

Hoopeston Area returned to the court tonight to face the Cardinals of St. Anne at John Greer gym, the Cornjerkers' temporary home. Behind the stellar serving of Bre Crose and Laci Breymeyer as well as a flexible defense that responded well to the varied St. Anne attacks, Hoopeston Area prevailed 25-14, 25-15. The Cornjerkers next travel to Westville on Thursday to face the Tigers in their first Vermilion Valley conference match.

CORNJERKER SOCCER FOR THE WIN

Cornjerkers was back in action on Friday night looking to break a two game losing streak against St. Anne. The only goal on the night came from freshman Bricyn Jones with his first goal of the year with just twenty-eight minutes left in the first half. 
Preston VanDeVeer and Owen Root combined for the shut-out. Owen Root got the win by saving all six shots taken by the Cardinals in seventy-three minutes in goal.
Cornjerkers goes to 4-2 overall and 2-1 VVC play. The Cornjerkers will host Danville Schlarman at home on Tuesday with a 4:30 start.

 

CORNJERKER VOLLEYBALL AND SOCCER ACTION

Hoopeston Area traveled to St. Joe on Thursday and came up short by the score 1-0. The only goal came from St. Joe's Ryker Lockhart scored on a great shot just outside of the box. Owen Root had eight saves on the night including a save on a penalty kick to keep the score 1-0. 

The Cornjerkers are 3-2 overall and 2-1 in the VVC. The Cornjerkers will be back in action Friday at home against St. Anne. Game time 4:30 

 

 

Hoopeston returned to action at home tonight after their first place finish at the Blue Ridge tournament on Saturday, facing a scrappy and determined team from Fisher. Behind ten kills from Kaitlynn Lange, four total blocks from Logan Watson, fifteen digs from Bre Crose and thirteen service receptions from Emmalee Bruens, the Cornjerkers (7-1) outlasted the Bunnies (3-4) 25-19, 14-25, 25-16. Hoopeston next plays Tuesday, facing St. Anne in a non-conference matchup at home.

Hoopeston Area Soccer reports

Hoopeston Area Soccer hosted Rantoul-PBL Saturday morning and the Cornjerkers found a way to walk away with their third win on the season by the score 2-1. Eagles Olivia McDermott got the scoring started after she set up Jeferson Soto to make the Eagles up 1-0. Just under twelve minutes left Talan Gredy-Neslon scored when Gabriel Joneikis made a great job of getting Talan open for his shoot. Seven minutes later Joneikis got his second assist of the game to help Gredy-Nelson score. Cornjerker goalie Owen Root won his three game of the year by stopping ten shots. 

Cornjerkers are 3-0 overall and still are sitting at a 2-0 record in the VVC.  

Cornjerkers will travel to Kankakee on Monday to take on Bishop McNamara.

2nd Half

The Cornjerkers were back in action Tuesday night after the game with Bishop Mac was  canceled due to the weather. The Cornjerkers had a tough opponent in Oakwood/Salt Fork. OSF made the score 1-0 with just twenty minutes left in the first half when Grant Powell and Brody Taflinger made a great play to score. 

Second half was very tight with both teams having great opportunities to score. The game stayed 1-0 until Brody Teflinger made it 2-0 with three minutes and forty-one seconds left. The Comets capped the game when once again Powell and Taflinger connected to make the final score 3-0. Owen Root had saved twelve while facing fifteen shots on goal from the Comets.

Hoopeston Area is 3-1 overall and 2-1 in the VVC. The Cornjerkers will travel to St. Joe on Thursday.

Cornjerker Volleyball had a big weekend!

On Saturday,Hoopeston Area travelled to Blue Ridge High School in Farmer City, IL to participate in their Early Bird Varsity Invitational. The Cornjerkers returned home with the first place trophy with a record of 5-0. Hoopeston started the day by downing Lowpoint-Washburn 25-9, 25-14, followed by Urbana Uni High (25-18, 25-13), a tenacious match with Champaign Judah Christian (21-25, 25-18, 15-10), and Donovan (25-4, 25-16). They took the championship match in two sets from Villa Grove 25-21, 25-18. Seniors Bre Crose and Logan Watson were named to the all-tournament team, and they were aided by the invaluable contributions of the entire team. Hoopeston returns to action Thursday at home against Fisher.

 

Cornjerkers kick off volleyball and soccer seasons

In their first match of the 2022 season, the Cornjerkers travelled to PBL to face the Panthers in a non-conference tilt. Hoopeston Area departed with an extremely close loss, 23-25, 25-19, 19-25. The Cornjerkers return to action Thursday at John Greer gymnasium in Hoopeston where they will face Attica (IN) at 5PM Central.

 

 

Hoopeston Area opened up with Watseka who was coming into play with a 1-0 record. First half was a very tight contest with both teams having an opportunity to score multiple times. Cameron Zorns got the Conrjerkers on the board with five minutes and forty seconds before half.

Second half Talan Gredy-Nelson scored his first goal of the year within less than five minutes. Talan later made things 3-0 with an assist from Harrison Woods.

Cornjerkers are 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the VVC. They will travel Thursday to play against Georgetow Ridge-Farm/Westville.

Milford defated Georgetown 81-50 and Milford set a school record with 15 threes (7 in the first quarter) on their way to the vermilion valley conference win.

Highschool Boys Basketball results from 12/7/21

The Bearcats move to 3-4 on the season with 43-34 win over Westville. Bearcats were led by Portwood 18pts 5 rebounds, Teig 12pts 4 rebounds and Nick Warren 9pts 10 rebounds and nick won the Ken Leonard award tonight.
