November 18, 2013 (Danville, Illinois)— The Festival of Trees closed yesterday due to storm-related power outages, much like the rest of the Danville area. As a result, organizers have made some announcements:
The Festival of Trees is open for business as planned today, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m., including all scheduled events.
The Polar Express, that was to run Sunday evening, will run tonight, Monday, November 18 beginning at 6:00 p.m. at the mall. Anyone who had previously purchased tickets that is unable to attend will receive a full refund. For refunds, contact the Arena Box Office, 217.431.2424. Those that are interested in purchasing any refunded tickets for tonight’s event, can likewise contact the box office.
The World Record attempt for the largest elf gathering has been rescheduled for Thursday night, November 21, the night in conjunction with the Night of Lights parade. Please be advised that the location has changed. Elves should check in at the Kresge Lot in Downtown Danville beginning at 4:30 p.m. and the official elf count will be held at 6:00 p.m.
Family Day, with free entrance for children, veterans and military personnel has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 19, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. As for Pickle Day, the hunt for the hidden pickle ornaments will continue today and tomorrow. The Children’s Craft Area will now be open from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. The Holiday Café will be open from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.
