Hoopeston Area Announces 1st Quarter Expect More!  Award Winners

The vision of Hoopeston Area CUSD #11 is to Expect More by
• Building Relationships with our families and communities
• Preparing our students for success in college, career, and life
• Ensuring our students have equitable access to excellence throughout the district.

Over the past year, Hoopeston Area schools have been overhauling the vision and mission for the school.  The new vision and mission can be summarized with two words: Expect More!  These two words are very powerful and can be used to describe our expectations for students, staff, administration, families and our community.  The Expect More! Committee decided that they would recognize the people who exemplify the Expect More! vision for the district.  Each quarter anyone in the school district or community may nominate someone who they believe goes above and beyond for Hoopeston Area Schools.  To become a part of the nomination process, visit our district website:  Winners will be chosen and awards will be presented in a public forum.  For the first quarter of the 2013-14 school year, our award winners were recognized during half time of the varsity girls volleyball game on October 22.  Recognized were three staff members and one community member.
Wade Clemmons is a member of the janitorial staff at Maple Grade School.  Wade is very hard working, reliable, and efficient.  He makes it a point to ask about everyone’s day and takes an interest in what is happening in the classrooms.  “Mr. Wade” is a favorite among all Maple students mainly because of the high expectations and friendly manner that he has for them.  Wade goes above and beyond his responsibilities on a daily basis.  From regular classroom cleaning at the end of the day to coaching middle school volleyball and answering to every request (no matter how important or insignificant), he is always doing his best.  While Wade is technically Maple staff, he has served the district in every building.  He is well liked by students, staff, and community members and that speaks volumes of his character.
Michl Kearney is the Dean of Students at Hoopeston Area High School.  Mr. Kearney is also the head football coach and the PBIS internal coach at HAHS.  Mr. Kearney is very supportive; he always promotes HA school, staff, and students in an extremely positive way.  Mr. Kearney recently started a tutoring session for athletes with academic problems.  He encourages students’ success in sports by sending results with positive comments to all high school teachers and staff.  Mr. Kearney is always ready to do whatever it takes to see the success of students and staff at Hoopeston Area.  He spends countless hours after school mentoring students.  Through his position he has a lot of interaction with parents and business professionals.  Mr. Kearney loves Hoopeston Area Schools unconditionally and does everything that he can to promote high expectations.
Dave McFadden is the owner of Anthem Chevrolet in Hoopeston and has become a valued partner with Hoopeston Area Schools and an advocate for the positive changes taking place in our district.  Dave is supportive of our schools and our students.  He gives generously his time, talent, and resources to our committees, sporting events, and music programs.  Dave has a positive outlook when it comes to Hoopeston Schools and he does whatever he can to help our school rise to high expectations.  As a member of the Expect More! Committee, Dave’s input has been extremely valuable in the creation and roll out of our new slogan.  His business expertise helped us create our action plan for implementing our new vision and mission to our staff and the community.  Everything about Dave and Anthem Chevrolet promotes “Cornjerker Pride.”  Community partners like Dave McFadden are integral to our district’s success.
