Hoopeston DAR members hear stories of Illinois history

Members of Barbara Standish Chapter NSDAR attended the Illiunois State District III meeting at Savoy United Methodist Church lasdt month.

Two stories were given at the meeting.

The first story was about Al Capone’s lawyer, Easy Eddie, who was responsible for keeping Capone out of jail.

The second story was of a young pilot, Lt. Commander Butch O’Hare, a fighter pilot on the USS Lexington in WW II.

The Daughters of the American Revolution was founded October 11, 1890, one of the oldest known patriotic organizations in American history. It celebrated its 122nd birthday last month.
