Hoopeston Police Department Press Release

On March 9, 2014 at 9:03 p.m. Hoopeston Police officers responded to a report of shots fired at The Downtown Motel at 200 East Main Street.

A 40-year-old male was found dead in one of the rooms and witnesses said suspects fled the area on foot and then by vehicle.  An autopsy is scheduled for later today.  The Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department is assisting in the investigation.

The shooting victim has been identified as 40 year old Bruce L. Eldridge of Hoopeston.  An Autopsy is scheduled for today.  This is being treated as a homicide and is still under investigation by the Hoopeston Police Department, the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office.
