ASHKUM, IL- Illinois State Police (ISP) District 21 is reporting the arrest of Tracy A. Kent, 42, of Donovan for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and Jose J. Arteaga, 22, of Chicago for Driving While License Suspended
On October 5, 2013, at approximately 7:28 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was dispatched to a motorist assist on US Route 52 in Iroquois County. The trooper spoke to the driver, Tracy A. Kent, who stated she stopped because she was tired. The trooper advised her she needed to continue on her way. As the trooper followed behind Kent’s vehicle he observed the vehicle traveling erratically and crossing the center line. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke with Kent about her driving. The trooper noticed two prescription bottles in Kent’s purse. The trooper had Kent perform the Standardized Field Sobriety tests which she failed. Kent was placed under arrest for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs and transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital for further testing. Kent was cited for Driving Under the Influence of Drugs.
On October 6, 2013, at approximately 10:16 A.M., an Illinois State Trooper was on patrol on Interstate 57 in Iroquois County. The trooper observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The trooper stopped the vehicle and spoke to the driver, Jose J. Arteaga. The trooper conducted a driver’s license inquiry which revealed Arteaga had a suspended driver’s license. Arteaga was placed under arrest for driving with a suspended license. During an inventory of the vehicle, a retractable baton was located. Arteaga was cited for Speeding, Driving While License Suspended, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
