Iroquois County Board

Chairman wins term by 13-7 vote

Rod Copas of rural Onarga said he was not surprised that some Iroquois County Board members voted in favor of someone other than him serving as board chariman.
Monday’s 13- 7 vote - split between Copas and Dale Schultz of Clifton - was just one example of the long-standing division between conservatives aand liberals on the now-20-member board, Copas said.
Copas appointed to a two year term as chairman during Monday’s biannual reorganizational meeting, said he wants the board to work together to accomplish common goals, particularly those surrounding the county’s finances.
