Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police investigate a fatal accident

On July 23rd, Iroquois County Sheriff’s Police investigated a fatal traffic accident at the intersection of 1600 E Rd and 1900 N Rd in rural Crescent City.  According to the report, David A. Senesac, 59 Watseka was traveling eastbound on 1900 N when his vehicle was struck in the drivers’ side by a vehicle driven by a 17 year-old male juvenile from Watseka who was traveling southbound on 1600 E Rd and disobeyed a stop sign.  Senesac’s vehicle then traveled into a bean field to the southeast of the intersection where it rolled several times ejecting Senesac from the vehicle before coming to a rest.  The 17 year olds vehicle traveled in the southeast ditch where it struck an embankment turning the car around before coming to rest in the ditch facing northbound.
The 17 year old male and his two passengers were transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.  Senesac was pronounced dead at the scene however, his 6 year old passenger was transported to Iroquois Memorial Hospital and later airlifted to Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign with serious injuries.  The condition of the 6 year old is unavailable at this time.
The 17 year old was charged with Driving Under the Influence, Disobeying a Stop Sign and Failure to Yield Right of Way at a stop intersection. 
Crescent City Fire and EMS, Martinton EMS, IMH EMS and Riverside EMS all responded to the accident.  The accident remains under investigation.
