Car v Train Accident

Sheriff’s police investigated a vehicle v train accident that occurred on County Rd 1900 E at approx. 850 N Rd just northeast of Goodwine.  Matthew S Brown, 25 Hoopeston was traveling south bound on Co Rd 1900E while approaching the railroad crossing at approx. 850 N Rd.  A Union Pacific freight train was also traveling south bound approaching the crossing as Brown’s F150 yielded at the crossbuck which were not equipped with gates or flashing lights.  Brown reported not being able to see or hear the oncoming train as he proceded acroos the tracks.  The Union Pacific train struck Brown’s F150 in the rear portion/bed of the truck resulting in more than $1500 in damages.  Milford Fire/EMS along with IMH Ambulance were dispatched and transported Brown and his passenger, Jason R Crose, 25 Hoopeston to Hoopeston Area Hospital.  Brown and Crose were later transported to Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL and were treated and released for minor injuries sustained in the accident.  Union Pacific Reailroad Police were on scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.  Brown was cited for disobeying a sign/signal indicating approach of a train and Crose was cited for failure to wear his seat belt.  The investigation continues.
