Evan Pierce, a DACC student offered to redo the landscaping along Route 1 and Main St. where the former Hoopeston Sign used to be prior to water main reconstruction over the last several months as an internship for his landscaping design and construction class.
Pierce has chosen plants and florals for the area, but he also has dug a lot of deep holes. Pierce’s choices include Cleveland Select Pears, which will have flowers in the spring, Sunny knockout roses, rhododendron and boxwood. The building landscape artist was assisted by Chad Thomas of C & D Outdoor Improvements and Loni Gress was the project overseeer. Pierce was quoted, “I like doing work like this” he will be graded on his effort and hopes to make it his career.
