Here’s your WHPO Sports Update….

HS Basketball…


Hoopeston Area knocked off state-ranked Bismarck-Henning last night 57-56 on a last second lay-up by Daniel Lawson.  Brennan Crose lead the Cornjerkers with 15 points.

A-P beat Schlarman Academy 49 – 47

Milford lost to Westville 37 – 29.  The Bearcats are 15-3 overall, 8-3 in conference – they travel to Bismarck Friday night.

A-P was knocked out of the Chrisman Regional, losing to Cissna Park 51- 41.  The Lady Timberwolves move onto the Regional Championship to face Schlarman.

St. Joe-Odgen ended Bismarck-Henning season with a 41 – 27 win over the Lady Blue Devils.  St. Joe moves on to face power house St. Thomas Moore and 6’-4” Tori McCoy in that Regional Championship.

College Basketball…

For the first time in 11 years, #15 Michigan beat #22 Ohio State 70 - 60


Bulls beat the Hawks in Atlanta 100 - 85


The US is tied with host Russia for 4th in the medal count through yesterday in Sochi
