Here’s your WHPO Sports Update….

NFL draft….1st round:
The Houston Texans selected South Carolina defensive lineman Jadeveon Clowney with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. 
The Bears took Virginia Tech cornerback Kyle Fuller with the No. 14 overall pick of the draft.  Barring a trade, the Bears’ next picks in this draft will come Friday evening. They own the 51st overall selection in the second round and No. 82 in Round 3.
The Indianapolis Colts had no 1st round pick.  Their first selection comes tonight at No. 59 overall. 


NBA….playoffs
Miami beat Brooklyn 94-82 to take a 2-0 series lead
San Antonio beat 114-97 Portland.  The Spurs lead that series 2-0 as well.

MLB….
Cubs pounded the White Sox 12 – 5

Local….
baseball:
Oakwood beat Hoopeston Area 8 – 2.  Andrew Samet was 1-2 and Kendall Walder struck out 10 in the losing effort for the Cornjerkers..
Cissna Park got by PBL 13-12
Watseka beat St. Anne 11 – 1

softball:
Hoopeston Area beat Oakwood 7-3.  Maddie Cline and Hallie Swinford each had 2 RBIs, Rylee Martin struck out 9.
Armstrong-Potomac beat Villa Grove/Heritage 11-10
Watseka beat St. Anne 15 – 5
