Here’s your WHPO Sports Update….

HS Basketball…

Hoopeston Area and Bismarck-Henning will share the VVC boys title after both teams won Friday night.  It’s the first VVC title ever for Hoopeston, and their first conference crown since 1989.

College Basketball…

#20 Michigan held off #13 Michigan State 79-70 to take possession of 1st place in the Big Ten.


Miami Heat, without Lebron James, coasted by the Chicago Bulls 93-79

HS State Wrestling…

Bismarck-Henning’s Jared Noel finished 5th in State in class 1A at 170-lbs.


Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the rain-delayed Daytona 500


Sochi Winter Olymics closed yesterday….the USA finished 2nd behind host Russia in the overall medal count with 28 medals – 9 gold, 7 silver, 12 bronze.  The US was 4th in gold medals, behind Russia, Norway and Canada.
