Here’s your WHPO Sports Update….

HS Girls Basketball….

Annawan beat Cissna Park 71-52 at the IWU Supersectional last night. The Bravettes forced 28 turnovers and connected on 21 of 24 free throws in the win. Cissna Park finishes the season 22-9, and was led by Addison Stoller’s 22 points and 12 rebounds. Madison Overbey had 12 boards for Cissna Park as they held a 43-30 edge in rebounds.

HS Boys Basketball…

2A Regional @ St. Joe:

Oakwood beat Geo-RF

1A Regional @ Catlin:

Chrisman beat Shiloh.  They move on to face Milford in the semi-finals Wednesday night.

College Basketball…

Florida is the new No. 1 in The Associated Press poll, the Gators’ first time on top of the rankings since they repeated as national champions in 2007. 
The Gators (25-2) moved up one place Monday, replacing Syracuse (25-2), which lost twice last week to Boston College and Duke – who dropped to fourth.  Wichita State and Arizona are 2nd and 3rd. 

#4 Syracuse held on to be Maryland 57-55

#5 Kansas won the Big 12 title, beating Oklahoma 83 - 75


LA Clippers, Mavericks, Warriors, Bucks & Jazz all won last night.


Locally…final home game for Hoopeston Area middle school volleyball is tonight at John Greer grade school starting at 6pm.

Also….Hoopeston Area HS Blue Rush club is sponsoring a Sprit Day Wednesday and a fan bus for tomorrow’s nights 1st round boys Regional basketball game against PBL at Watseka.  Students in the district are encouraged to wear red, white & blue to school Wednesday….and $5 gets students a ride and ticket to the game.  Call or visit the Hoopeston Area HS office for more information.
