Beverly “Bev” Jean Egnew Cowan, 86, of Hoopeston

Beverly “Bev” Jean Egnew Cowan, 86, of Hoopeston, passed away at 12:55 a.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at Heritage Health in Hoopeston.
Bev was born on July 17, 1927, in Rossville, the daughter of John Henry and Fee (McBride) Deck.  She married Raymond Egnew on February 24, 1946 in Hoopeston.  He preceded her in death in April of 1982.  She later married Leland “Bus” Cowan on May 30, 1990, in Boise, Idaho.  He preceded her in death on March 2, 2011.
She is survived by her two sons- Robert “Buddy” (Yvonne) Egnew of McKinney, Texas and Stephen (Ava) Egnew of Villa Grove, Illinois, eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, two daughters- Barbara Jean Egnew Stephenson and Janet Rhea Egnew Eells, granddaughter- Amy Lynn Egnew Dunavan, three sisters and three brothers.
Bev worked at Schumacher’s Electric Company for several years, until she retired.  She loved to go bowling and fishing.  She also enjoyed reading and loved being in the water.
A Celebration of Beverly’s Life will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Brown-Alkire Funeral Chapel in Hoopeston, with Steve Unger officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Beverly’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association.  The family has entrusted the Brown-Alkire Funeral Chapel to assist them in honoring Bev’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her memorial page at: www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.
