Harold Long, 72, of Palmdale, CA

Harold Long, 72, of Palmdale, CA, passed away on April 12, 2014 in Palmdale, CA.  He was born October 22, 1941, in Hoopeston, IL, the son of Roy and Gladys Long.  He married Yasuko Kuninaka on June 20, 1963 in Okinawa, Japan.

He is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years; two daughters, Judy (Paul) Yupraphat of Tehachapi, CA and Anna Dierx of Plano, TX; one son, Tony (Emely) Long of Hoopeston, IL; two sisters, Shirley Mathews of Pikesville, NC and Sandra (Ralph) Samet of East Lynn, IL; one brother, Mike (Judy) Long of Clio, MI; six grandchildren, Hanna, Meganne, Tristan, Araya, Katrina and Taylore and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Jim and Tom and one brother-in-law, Bill Mathews.

Harold served in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years.  He later worked as an Aerospace engineer for Northrop Grumman for 34 years.  Harold enjoyed restoring classic cars, spoiling his dog Lucy and spending time with his beloved family.

Per his wishes, he was cremated and a visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday April 23, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Kevin Purdy officiating.  Burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston following the memorial service.  Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
