Pauline Ziebart, 92 Hoopeston

Pauline was born October 7, 1922 in Bondville, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lura Leona (Henness) Clary.  She married John Isaac Goodner in 1942; he preceded her in death in 1966.  Pauline later married Donald R. Ziebart in 1969; he preceded her in death in 2005.

Pauline is survived by her son, Theodore A. (Vickie) Goodner of Hoopeston, IL; daughter, Peggy L. (Chuck) Mockbee of Danville, IL; one sister-in-law, Mary Clary of Peoria, IL; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Duane, Harold, Maurice and Dale and one sister, Aline Herndon.

Pauline was employed at the FW Woolworth Store, Boat Factory and Muesbeck Shoe Factory.  She then owned and operated her Beauty Shop at her home in Bismarck for 10 years.  She later worked at the Lakeview Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse until she retired.  Pauline was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ in Hoopeston, IL.  She enjoyed helping with various activities and mission projects at the church.  Pauline also enjoyed helping with mission projects at the Farmer’s Chapel Church in Danville, IL.

Pauline enjoyed flower gardening and shopping.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Visitation will be from 2:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Sunday, January 4, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Chestnut Street Church of Christ 709 E. Chestnut St. Hoopeston, IL with Pastor Sid Payne officiating.  Burial will follow services at the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery in Danville, IL.  This land is where her father and brothers farmed and later helped clear the land which is now known as the Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Chestnut Street Church of Christ Building fund.

Ellen Dobkins, 77 Hoopeston

Ellen was born on April 6, 1937, in Albany, Kentucky, the daughter of Clarence and Jessie (Byers) Catron.

She is survived by her father; two sons-Martin(Abby)Dobkins, Hoopeston, Illinois and Marvin(Jeanie)Dobkins, Hoopeston, Illinois; grandchildren- Brad Dobkins, Sabrina Dobkins, Jeramy(Ashley)Dobkins, Jessica(Michael Davis)Dobkins, Joshua Dobkins and great-grandchild Lydia Davis; brother- Chet Catron(Pat);Nephew-Mike Catron;2-Aunts,2-Uncles.

She is preceded in death by her mother Jessie Catron, two Aunts, and three Uncles.

Ellen worked as a Machinist First Class at FMC for twenty-one years. She was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ and American Legion Auxiliary.  She loved bowling and was inducted into the Hoopeston Bowling Hall of Fame. She also enjoyed bingo at the legion, softball, book reading and puzzles.

A Celebration of Mrs. Dobkin’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, January 3, 2015, at Blurton Funeral Home in Hoopeston. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made in Ellen’s name to Hoopeston American Legion. Iroquois County Police News from the Weekend

Police arrested Sonceria Grayson 22 of Champaign. She was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear on driving while license suspended. She remained in jail in lieu of bond.

Police Arrested James Mahan 59 of Gilman. Mahan was charged with aggravated domestic battery and violation of bail bond. He reportedly restrained his handicapped wife against her will causing injuries.injuries. Mahan was waiting a court appearance in Iroquois
County.

Car vs. Deer accident on 500 N. 1600 E. Rd, Police reports say Robert Braden Jr. was traveling eastbound when a deer crossed the path of his car and he struck the animal, Braden was taken to Hoopeston Hospital for minor injuries. No citations were issued.

Friday Afternoon police report a traffic accident at the intersection of Jones and Grove in Milford when Shelli Williams 23 of Stockland was traveling eastbound on Jones when a vehicle driven by Becky Puetz 53 failed to yield the right of way and the two collided.

Lois C. West, 79, of Hoopeston, IL

passed away Friday December 19, 2014, at Northwestern Hospital in Chicago, IL.  She was born January 12, 1935, in Manila, Arkansas, the daughter of Marshall and Edith (Griffin) Gentry.  She married William F. West on August 1, 1952, in Kenneth, MO.  He survives in Hoopeston.

She is survived by one daughter, Marilyn A. (Joseph) Handrahan of Mars, PA; three sons, Danny L. (Linda) West of Hoopeston, IL, Terry A. (Renee) West of Peotone, IL and Phillip W. (Jodi) West of Goshen, IN; two sisters, Emily Bailey of Paragould, Arkansas and Faye (David) Westerfield of Powder Springs, GA; one brother, Gerald (Marie) Gentry of Senath, MO; one sister-in-law, Joann Gentry of Jackson, MO; 6 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Harold, Melvin and James Gentry; one sister, Brenda Moore; one sister-in-law, Molly Gentry and one granddaughter, Amber L. West.

Lois was a homemaker, taking care of her family most of her life and also worked as a CNA.  She enjoyed quilting, embroidering, crocheting and sewing.  She also enjoyed working cross-word puzzles and playing cards.  Lois’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially attending picnics and family gatherings.

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 23, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 23, 2014 at the funeral home, with Father Patrick O’Neal officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Memorials may be made in Lois’s honor, to the donor’s choice.

Cora Juanita Denton, 93, of Hoopeston, IL,

Passed away at 6:30 A.M. Saturday December 20, 2014 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Care in Hoopeston.  She was born July 29, 1921 in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Vernal H. and Mary Howard (Hartman) Goin.  She married Clarence Alfred Denton Sr. on October 21, 1939, in Kentland, IN.  He preceded her in death on September 14, 1963.

She is survived by two daughters, Carol Ann (Harold) Bishop of Hoopeston, IL and Brenda Kay (Bill) Crusinberry of Hoopeston, IL; one son, Clarence Alfred Denton Jr. of Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Ada Mae Seiters of Hoopeston, IL; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Ellen Davis and brother, Roy Goin.

Cora was a homemaker, caring for her family.  She was also a seasonal worker at the canning factories in Hoopeston.  Cora enjoyed bowling, reading, working crossword puzzles and especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday December 26, 2014 at the Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, with Pastor Micah Mobley officiating.  Burial will be in the Floral Hill Cemetery.

The family requests no flowers, but donations may be made in her name to the Grace Outreach Group at the First Church of God 1004 E. Orange St. Hoopeston, IL, 60942 or to the Hoopeston Animal Shelter 901 W. Main St. Hoopeston, IL 60942.

A Celebration of Mr. Jones Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2014, at the Blurton Funeral Home, 309 E. Delmar “Ralph” May, 65, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 4:57 A.M. Saturday November 29, 2014, at his home in Hoopeston.  He was born February 22, 1949, in Watseka, IL, the son of Delmar “Del” and Henrietta (Wiggs) May.  He married Deborah Bowlin on December 12, 1982, in Urbana, IL.  She survives in Hoopeston.

He is survived by four daughters, Tiana (Dave) Pickett of Attica, IN, Heather (Dave) Hughes of Hoopeston, IL, Tracy Brandriff of Champaign, IL and April (Leon) Fivecoat of Hoopeston, IL; five sons, Robert (Missy) May of Attica, IN, Michael (Heather) May of Crawfordsville, IN, Brent (Heather) May of Attica, IN, Kris Rogers of Hoopeston, IL and James English of Hoopeston, IL; 11 grandchildren, Caly Jo Pickett, Jacob Goodin, Lindsey May, Carissa Kohl, Heather Stenson, Blake May, Austin Sawyer, Levi Fivecoat, Chandler May, Madison Abney and Tylar Abney and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers.

Ralph was a machinist for over 44 years, working for several different companies.  He owned Manito Machinery and was a business partner of Fun Time Games.  He also worked for Caterpillar in Peoria, R L Brownfield, Danville Steel and Iron and Lenny’s Machine Shop.  Ralph was a member of the National Machinist Association and the Caterpillar Teamsters Union.

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 2, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday December 2, 2014 at Anderson Funeral Home, with Pastor Bruce McQuigg officiating.  Following the funeral service, per his wishes, he will be cremated.
