Super Bowl:

The Baltimore Ravens held on to beat the San Francisco 49ers 34 – 31 in Super Bowl 47 last night.  Ravens QB Joe Flacco was voted the game’s MVP. 

Other NFL news from the weekend:

Adrian Peterson was named Player of the Year and Offensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press.  Peyton Manning was voted Comeback Player of the Year, while Robert Griffin III was name Rookie Offensive Player of the Year, and Bruce Arians became the first interim coach to be named Coach of the Year.  The coach he replaced for 9 games – Chuck Pagano – finished 2nd in the voting.

Miami beat Toronto 100 – 8 5

The LA Lakers got by Detroit 97 – 96

Boston 106 – LA Clippers 104


Phil Mickelson shot a 4-under 69 on Sunday to finish and win the Phoenix Open at 28-under….just 2 strokes off the PGA record. 

NCAA Men’s Basketball….

on Saturday:

#3 Indiana beat #1 Michigan 81 – 73

unranked Oklahoma State upset #2 Kansas 85 – 80

#4 Florida 78 -  #16 Ole Miss 64

#5 Duke 79 – Florida State 60

Pitt upset #6 Syracuse 65 – 55

Ohio State beat Nebraska 63 – 56

and the DACC men won their 9th in a row – their 20th win of the season by beating Lincoln 80 – 73. 

The Lady Jaguars also won on Saturday against Lincoln, 64 – 61. 

on Sunday:

Louisville beat Marquette 70 – 51

Minnesota got by Iowa 62 – 59

and Illinois lost at home for the 4th time in a row, falling to Wisconsin 74 – 69
Likely new #1 team in the nation Indiana visits the Assembly Hall on Thursday.
