NCAA Men’s Basketball….
Indiana remained the #1 team in the Nation, despite losing to Illinois last week. The Hoosiers received 26 first-place votes from the 65-member national AP media panel Monday, while Duke, the only member of the top five not to lose last week, moved up two spots to second after getting 20 first-place votes. After Indiana and Duke, the rest of the top five includes Miami (who jumped from 8 to 3), Michigan, and Gonzaga. Syracuse was sixth, followed by Florida, Michigan State, Arizona and Kansas State.

The Philadelphia Eagles re-signed Michael Vick on Monday to a one-year deal for the 2013 season, the team announced. Vick could make as much as $10 million next season

Girls Sectional:
Iroquois West beat Schlarman Academy 55 -44. The Raiders will face LeRoy in the Sectional Championship at Fisher Thursday night.
Watseka beat St. Joe Ogden 48 – 34. The Lady Warriors advance to that 2A Sectional championship and will face St. Thomas Moore.
youth soccer news:
HAYS will hold a sign up for a spring soccer academy on Saturday, February 23rd from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at First Church of God, 1004 E. Orange St. in Hoopeston. The academy is not a league but is a program designed to teach skills, team play, fundamentals and sportsmanship. There will be light scrimmaging. Newcomers to soccer are welcome!
The academy is $20 and includes a t-shirt. It will run every Saturday morning, various times in the morning by age group on April 6th through May 4th. It is for ages 4 through children in 8th grade, boys and girls. Surrounding communities welcome. If you have questions, please contact Kathy Harding at 217-497-6686.
