Here’s Your WHPO Sports Report…..

pre-season final games:

the Bears rested their starters and lost to the Cleveland Browns 18-16

the Colts lost to Cincinnati 27 – 10

also… The NFL has reached a tentative $765 million settlement over concussion-related brain injuries among its 18,000 retired players, agreeing to compensate victims, pay for medical exams and underwrite research.
A federal judge announced the agreement Thursday after months of court-ordered mediation.


the Cubs, Cards, and White Sox all had the day off yesterday.    The Cubs host the Phillies, today.  The Cards start an important series at division rival Pittsburg today.  The White Sox travel to Boston.

High School….


Cissna Park beat Momence but lost to Armstrong-Potomac.  The Trojans also beat Tri-Point last night.  Cissna Park will play in the 2nd place pool…A-P will play for the Championship.  Hoopeston Area will compete in the 3rd place pool – all in the final day tomorrow at the CP Timberwolves tip-off classic.


Hoopeston Area took 3rd place at a quad meet in Watseka yesterday.  Ryan McGill carded a team-best 45.  Milford finished 4th in the meet – Alex Portwood led the Bearcats with a 45.


Hoopeston Area returns to the field tonight….they host Atwood-Hammond.  Kick-off is at 7pm.
