the Fighting Illini survived with a 42-34 win over Southern Illinois on Saturday.

High School….


Hoopeston Area went down early in the first half Friday night vs. Arthur-Lovington before weather delayed the game.  They will finish the game tonight in Arthur.

Milford-Cissna Park was tied 6-6 at halftime at East Central, but went on to win their opener 33 – 6 to start the season 1-0 under new Head Coach Clint Swartz.  Junior quarterback Jacob Marquez ran for 132-yards, three touchdowns and completed two passes for 19 yards in the win.
Devon Laubscher added two more touchdowns and ran for 90 yards on 12 carries.


Watseka won the Cissna Park tip-off Classic Saturday, beating Armstrong-Potomac in the Championship 25-11 and 25-18
All-Tournament team selections included Cissna Park’s Addison Stoller and Hillary Hines.  A-P’s Rachel Miles and Morgan Zindars, and Hoopeston’s Ericka Solis.


@ MAHOMET Bulldog Classic:
Hoopeston beat Mahomet 5-2.  Hoopeston lead 2-0 at half and went up 5-0 at one point in the 2nd half, playing with just 10 men.
Brennan Crose had a hat trick with 3 goals, while Elijah Yates had 2 assists. 

Championship game between Hoopeston and Mt. Zion cancelled due to weather. Both were declared co-champions.  Hoopeston Area is 2-0 as they travel to Danville to face the Vikings in non-conference action tonight.
