Here’s Your WHPO Sports Report…..
Andrew Luck threw for 107 yards and two touchdowns and the Indianapolis Colts responded to criticism by owner Jim Irsay after their first pre-season loss, with a 20-12 exhibition victory over the New York Giants on Sunday night.
The Chicago Bears added their second quarterback in two days Sunday, signing veteran Trent Edwards to a one-year deal. A seventh-year veteran, Edwards has started games for Buffalo (2007-10), Jacksonville (2010), Oakland, (2011) and Philadelphia. The Bears signed Edwards after adding veteran quarterback Jordan Palmer on Saturday. The team made the moves to bolster the backup quarterback position after No. 3 signal caller Matthew Blanchard broke a knuckle on his non-throwing hand during Thursday’s preseason win over the San Diego Chargers.
Adam Wainwright struck out 11 and allowed one run through seven innings, and Jon Jay drove in four runs with a homer and double to lead St. Louis to a 6-1 win over the Chicago Cubs.
Alexei Ramirez homered and had three RBIs while Hector Santiago won for the first time since June 21 and the Chicago White Sox beat Minnesota 5-2.
Joey Lagano won at Michigan International Speedway yesterday.
