Auburn moved up two spots to No. 4 in this week’s BCS standings, setting up a top-five matchup with No. 1 Alabama this coming Saturday.
Florida State remained in the No. 2 spot and has the inside track to play in the VIZIO BCS National Championship. Ohio State remained #3 and has a sizable advantage over Auburn, the top one-loss team in the standings.
Free agent shortstop Jhonny Peralta and the St. Louis Cardinals have agreed on a four-year contract, giving the All-Star a fresh start after his Biogenesis drug suspension last summer.
The deal is worth around $52 million
HS Girls Basketball…
Hoopeston Area beat Westville Saturday 58 – 35 at the Comet Classic. Shelby Holzinger had 23 points, Haley Dixon added 14 for the Lady Cornjerkers.
Tonight is opening night the annual Cornjerker Classic. The Hoopeston Area boys’ face Donovan at 7:45. Iroquois West takes on Bismarck-Henning in the first game of the night @ 6:00pm.
