Here’s Your WHPO Sports Report…..

Congratulations to the Hoopeston Area 8th grade boys basketball team who defeated Bismarck-Henning last night 54-28 to win the Vermilion County tournament crown.  The same group won the title last year as 7th graders.

HS Girls Basketball…..

Hoopeston Area lost to Chrisman 48 – 33.

Schlarman beat Bismarck-Henning 38 – 34

Armstrong-Potomac beat Milford 31 – 29

Cissna Park upset #7 ranked Watseka 45 – 42

HS Boys Basketball…

Iroquois West beat Armstrong-Potomac 56 - 54

HS Wrestling…

Hoopeston Area beat PBL 36 – 34 in a dual meet last night.  Ian Simpson, Charlie Warner, Cody Coon and JD Patti all had pins for the Cornjerkers. 


Indiana beat New York 117 – 89

Brooklyn beat Atlanta in London 127 – 110

Oklahoma City beat Houston 104 - 92

College Basketball…

#1 Arizona beat Arizona State 91 – 68

#11 Ohio State was upset by Minnesota 63 – 53.  The Buckeyes have lost 3 straight games for the first time since 2009.


Baseball will adopt a video review system this season, and it will give managers most of the power to trigger reviews, by providing them with one challenge per game, along with a second potential challenge if their first is upheld.
Only after a manager has used up all of his challenges, and only from the seventh inning on, would umpires be authorized to initiate a review on their own.
