Gonzaga is the #1 team in the nation for the first time ever in this week’s AP top 25 poll. The Bulldogs have the best record in Division I at 29-2, and swapped places with Indiana who lost to Minnesota last week. Indiana at #2, followed by Duke, Kansas, and Georgetown for the top 5. Note to Illinois fans….one of those 2 Gonzaga losses is to the Fighting Illini.

The Baltimore Ravens and quarterback Joe Flacco officially announced Monday his new six-year, $120.6 million deal that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid player. The Super Bowl MVP will receive a $29 million signing bonus and $52 million in guaranteed money. He will be paid $51 million over the first two years of the deal.
Soccer…
Carlos Tevez scored in 1st half extra time to give Manchester City their only goal in a 1-0 win over Aston Villa in English Premier League play on Monday. City trails Manchester United by 12 points with just 10 Premiership games remaining.

Parents find all of your Hoopeston spring and summer sport sign-ups at the WHPO Business Expo this weekend at the Civic Center: Hoopeston Girls Softball, Hoopeston Area Youth Baseball (T-Ball, Instructional, Minor, Major & Pony leagues), the Hoopeston Area Youth Soccer Academy, and Hoopeston Sting Rays swim team will all have registration and information at their booths Saturday & Sunday.
