Brandon Paul had 25 points including 2-points in the final seconds of regulation as the Illini held on to beat Minnesota 51 – 49 in first round action of the Big Ten tournament. Illinois moves on to face #1 seed Indiana today at Noon.

The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 2 -1 after shoot-out last night. The Hawks are 22-2-3 as they cross the mid-point of the lock out shortened 48-game NHL season.
Hoopeston Area Youth Baseball sign-ups continue tomorrow the 16th, 10-2 at City Hall. March 18 is the deadline for Pony League registration, with April 1 the final day for t-ball through major leagues – without a late fee.

The field of 16 teams for the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Men Basketball tournament has been set. Play begins at Danville Area Community College March 19 and runs through March 23, 2013.
A tournament pass, which is good for all games, is available for
$35.00. Tickets are $6.00 each session/morning, afternoon or evening. Tickets for DACC students and senior citizens are $3.00 and children 6 and under are free for all games.
