Real Madrid and Manchester United played to a 1-1 tie on headers by Man U’s Danny Welbeck and Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Illini men won their 3rd straight conference game by beating Purdue 79 – 59. DJ Richardson led Illinois with 18 points.
Also in the Big Ten, #1 Indiana had no trouble with Nebraska, beating the Cornhuskers 76 – 47

Milford lost at Schlarman Academy 64 – 50. Jeff Cann lead the Bearcats with 18 points. Milford travels to Hoopeston Friday night for the Cornjerker’s Senior Night – both teams last regular season game – which Russ Leigh and I will bring to your live here on 101 Country.

youth soccer news:
HAYS will hold a sign up for a spring soccer academy on Saturday, February 23rd from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at First Church of God, 1004 E. Orange St. in Hoopeston. The academy is not a league but is a program designed to teach skills, team play, fundamentals and sportsmanship. There will be light scrimmaging. Newcomers to soccer are welcome!
The academy is $20 and includes a t-shirt. It will run every Saturday morning, various times in the morning by age group on April 6th through May 4th. It is for ages 4 through children in 8th grade, boys and girls. Surrounding communities welcome. If you have questions, please contact Kathy Harding at 217-497-6686.

Hoopeston Area Youth Baseball (that’s T-Ball, Instructional League, Minor, Major & Pony Leagues) and Hoopeston Girls Softball sign-ups will start at the WHPO Business Expo – the weekend of March 9 – 10. Other sign-up dates will be announced….check out both leagues on Facebook.
