Here’s Your WHPO Sports Update…..


Louisville outlasted Michigan in a wild back-and-forth game to win the National Championship last night, 82 – 76. 

The women’s Final Four is tonight as Louisville attempts to knock off #1 seed UConn

The Cubs lost their home opener to the Brewers 7 – 4

The Reds spanked the Cardinals 13 – 4

Local Sports…

H.S. Baseball:

Hoopeston Area lost to Schlarman Academy 3 – 2.  Aiden Berg had a home run and 2 RBIs for the Cornjerkers.

Bismarck-Henning shut out Armstrong Potomac 12 – 0. 

Georgetown-RF beat Milford 6 – 2.

In softball:

Schlarman beat Hoopeston Area 10 – 6.  Kaelynn Longfellow had 3 hits and 4 RBIs in the Cornjerker loss.

Bismarck Henning beat Armstrong Potomac 14 – 8

Georgetown RF blanked Milford 14 – 0.



Youth Sport announcements:
• Hoopeston Stingrays Swim Team 2013 signups will be held on Wednesday, April 10 from 6-8 p.m. at the Hoopeston Masonic Lodge. A final signup will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 10-12 at the Hoopeston Masonic Lodge

• Hoopeston Area spring basketball camp for 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will start April 15 and ending May 16. Cost is $35 for the camp.

The camp is to be held at the middle school gym every Monday and Thursday nights 6:-7:30, which is designed to improve individual skills - There will be no games or scrimmages at this camp.

Registration forms can be picked up in the high school or John Greer office. Walk-ins welcomed. For more information contact
